The Game by Terry SchottWhat did I like best about this book?
What I liked best about the book was that you had to expect the unexpected. I don't want to say much but the books gets interesting when you don't know what will happen next when zach is in the in the game causing the book to be suspenseful. Summary: The story takes place in a futuristic setting. The human race is on the brink of extinction. All kids 13 till 18 play something called the game. Which is a virtual reality that helps kids understand the working life, with are protagonist as one of the best players. Sensitive Material: None. Recommended by Wilfredo G. and Abraham S. |

The Martian by Andy WeirWhat did I like best about this book?
I liked how the book is realistic even though it's a fiction book. The characters charisma in a situation like this is what lightens the mood from time to time without making the plot dull. Also the effort Mark puts into surviving is impressive to listen to. Summary: This book is about an astronaut that has been said to be dead although he isn't. This story is mostly about him trying not to give up emotionally and physically. This is also about his struggle to survive in a seemingly uninhabitable planet, while his crew mate's rush back to him hundreds of thousands of light years away. Sensitive Material: There is a slight bit of cursing in the book. Recommended by Jeff M., Andre T., Armando R., and Sean R. |

The Hunger Games by Suzanne CollinsWhat did I like best about this book?
The amount of suspense in the first book at the end with how they both would refuse to go by the rules of the Capitol. I enjoyed this book because there was a lot of action but it seemed so real. The story was very detailed as if I could picture it all playing in my head. This book also showed some real life situations and full of action and battles. Summary: This book is about a young lady, that where she lives is divided into districts. Every year they pick a girl and and a boy from every district to go fight and in the capital for survival. Sensitive Material: Well in this book they kill people but that's it. Recommended by Sebastian L., Benjamin N., and Chabely L. |

City of Bones by Cassandra ClareWhat did I like best about this book?
I really enjoyed the action and different plot twists within the plot. Also, I liked the comedy or jokes involved. The book has creative characters who are in interesting scenarios that could lead to anything happening. It has great suspense and imaginative places. Summary: So, the first book (the city of bones) is about a girl named Clary who was suddenly thrown into a world of fantasy with vampires and demon hunters. All of this involved I the search of her mother. Sensitive Material: The romance involved can be a little much and the action/details can be gruesome. Recommended by Maryon B. and Chibunna A. |

Shatter Me by Tahereh MafiWhat did I like best about this book?
The plot and the depth of the character development are defiantly the most interesting and attractive features of the book to me. Although the main character has a love interest, the book is mostly focuses on who the hero is and helping them to find themselves while enduring the unusual challenges of their life. Summary: In this dystopian universe there is a 17 year old girl locked up and thrown in a hole somewhere. Arrested for murder of her entire family. What is the weapon of choice? Her touch, she accidentally slaughtered her family by touching them and now she rots away in a dark cell. But as the government continues to struggle to keep peace in the outside world the masses are speaking of war, and their most dangerous prisoner will be their secret weapon. Or will she? Sensitive Material: There are a few very well described deaths in the novels, but that is all. Recommended by Nadia L. |

The Lightning Thief by Rick RiordanWhat did I like best about this book?
I love the action pact moments within the book. I find it exciting when I hear humans or in this case demi gods using their supernatural abilities in times of need. The plot is overall very simple however most would have to acquire a portion of knowledge about Greek gods before reading this book in order to understand the positions and status of each of these characters. Summary: Percy Jackson is a Demi-God that is sent to go on a quest. He gathers his friends with him to go find and return Zeus's Lightning Bolt that was stolen. They have 10 days to return the stolen property and bring peace to Mount Olympus. Sensitive Material: There are some deaths. Recommended by Amene A., Byron S., Sonu M. and Danielle B. Illuminae: The Illuminae Files_01 by Jamie Kaufman and Jay KristoffWhat did I like best about this book?
This book has everything a teenager could dream of. Action, adventure, love, and drama. Did I forget to mention that it also has living zombies, guns, computer hacking, fighter jets, an insane AI, and space?! The best thing about this book is the suspense. When you think things can't possibly get worse, they do, and boy is it entertaining! Summary: There are two companies that are fighting. One company brutally attacks the other, and a international police force gets involved. Two ship are sent to save the destroyed company's workers and civilians. The brutal company attacks and damages both police ships. While both ships are limping to safety, the stronger company chases them with their largest ship. Will the ship catch up to them? Will the heroes survive to tell the story? Find out next time, on...you're free time. Sensitive Material: Well... here's the funny thing. You know how when people cuss on television and you hear the bleep sound right? In the book, it's the same case. Supposedly, on every cuss word in the book, the entire word will be covered in a black box in such a manner that you can't see it. Now, I'm not encouraging anything, but most likely the authors did this to let you...use your imagination, I guess. The living zombies are very savage, so keep that in mind. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini TaylorWhat did I like best about this book?
I like the suspense that she created in the book. I also like the way she described the characters and places. For example there's this one place where two of the characters meet at and she describes it so well that you feel like you are inside the setting. Summary: There's this girl who is in two different worlds but she can't find her way in any of them. She ends up finding out that she really isn't human and that she is actually un-dead. Through the whole book she is being chased by an angel who in the end starts loving her. Sensitive Material: Maybe the characters they describe might be weird and people think that they might be related to the devil and there is one part where two of the characters start getting intimate but they stop before it goes to far. In the beginning they also talk about some sensitive sexual subjects and talking about the male private parts. Recommended by Destiny A. |
